Illinois State Police Ready To Unveil Concealed Carry License Application On January 5

“On July 9, 2013, Illinois joined the other 49 states in enacting concealed-carry.

But according to the Illinois State Police, applications for Illinois CCW won’t be made available to the public until January 5, 2014.”

Survival And Prosperity, August 6, 2013

January 5, 2014, is almost upon us. And from what I’ve been reading, it sounds like the Illinois State Police should have the application for the Illinois Concealed Carry License, or CCL, up on their website this Sunday.

From a press release that appeared on the Illinois State Police site earlier today:

CHICAGO – In advance of the Jan. 5 statutory deadline, Illinois State Police (ISP) officials today provided an update on the Concealed Carry License (CCL) program and previewed the CCL application process for the public…

Since early July, the ISP has been providing the public with regular updates on the CCL process including FAQs, firearms instructor training requirements, firearms instructor databases, approved curricula, signage requirements, training, and the ability to apply for a Digital ID and submit electronic fingerprints. A new CCL unit has been created and is currently operating out of the ISP central headquarters building in Springfield.

“Today’s preview of the CCL application should provide the public with a glimpse into the application process a week before the application is posted on line,” said ISP Colonel Marc Maton, who has been overseeing the project. “We have built a system from the ground up and our dedicated team has met every deadline and milestone under the statutory requirements,” Maton stressed…

The website of Chicago CBS affiliate Channel 2 added the following this afternoon:

We’re ready: That’s the message from Illinois State Police ahead of Sunday’s launch of concealed-carry licensing.

The application process will be up and available on the state police website.

It’s an application authorities say should take under 10 minutes to finish. It covers an applicant’s past and present…

The cost for an Illinois Concealed Carry License is $150 for 5 years for an Illinois resident, or $300 for out-of-state residents.

You can read the Illinois State Police’s entire press release on their website here. More information about the Illinois CCL can be obtained here on the same site.
