Milestone: Survival And Prosperity Reaches 2,000 Posts

Yesterday was a milestone for Survival And Prosperity:

2,000 posts have now been published on the blog

Not bad considering the weblog was started a little less than three-and-a-half years ago.

My previous flagship blog, Boom2Bust.com, “The Most Hated Blog On Wall Street,” only reached around 1,500 posts.

I think a little celebration is called for, don’t you?

There’s lots more blogging to be done. Washington and the Fed has managed to “kick the can down the road” this far, and while the economic picture might look rosy to many for a bit longer, I’m still not deviating from that prediction I made back on Memorial Day Weekend 2007 about a U.S. financial crash.

In fact, I believe we’ve already started into the descent. And gradually, the U.S. economy and larger financial system that is weighed down by tremendous debt and steered by greed, arrogance, and incompetence will eventually crash hard.

That being said, America has been here before (Great Depression). And I do see the country getting back on firm economic ground again. But only after the excesses off a multi-decade debt binge are effectively purged.

No “doomsday,” but definitely a “financial reckoning day.”

In the meantime, it’s probably wise to take advantage of the present situation to prepare for what I see is in store for the country down the road. Whether that means finding a line of work that’s more stable or acquiring more income to preserve one’s standard of living in hard times, it’s something one may want to look into and take action on while it’s still possible to do so. Of course, individual circumstances vary. Still, improving one’s self-sufficiency- even incrementally- can make a big difference in an emergency or major crisis. It’s something our predecessors in this great nation of ours understood and practiced, but unfortunately has fallen by the wayside in modern times.

Survival and prosperity. That’s what this blog continues to be all about.

Back In The Saddle

Regular readers of Survival And Prosperity may have noticed the lack of blogging activity since early February. While I took care of a number of personal matters during this time away from the blog, I was also hard at work on two new projects.

On February 15, I launched the financial website Offshore Private Vaults, “Overseas Asset Protection Outside the Banking System.” It contains information about private vaults located outside the United States offering safe deposit boxes (at a minimum). The site looks at why overseas non-bank vaults are considered effective asset protection tools, and provides a regularly-updated list of these storage facilities worldwide.

On February 24, I also rolled out the financial blog Offshore Safe Deposit Boxes, “Asset Protection Outside the United States.” It focuses on safe deposit boxes located outside the United States and looks at why offshore safe deposit boxes are considered effective asset protection tools.

I’m now back in the saddle again with Survival And Prosperity. New material will be published today and tomorrow with a full week (Sunday through Thursday) of posts planned starting Sunday, March 2.

Thanks for your continued readership and support,

Friday Blogging

Because I was taking care of some other tasks, I didn’t get the chance to blog as much as I wanted to today.

Therefore, I’ll be uploading some new material Friday before calling it a week, including an “In Print” book review post and the “Resource Of The Week.”

Make-Up Blogging

Since I didn’t blog Tuesday, I’ll be publishing new material this morning.

Lots to talk about, with a “Resource Of The Week” to wrap it all up.

Some Blog-Related Matters

Sorry for not posting any new material Tuesday. The fact is, I was busy contemplating some matters related to Survival And Prosperity. Regular readers may have noticed that blogging has been somewhat sporadic, current events-oriented, and Chicago, Illinois-centric for some time now. This was not my intention. While it would be easy to blame my newly-found homeowner responsibilities, a myriad of other projects/tasks, and those unforeseen challenges/setbacks that have a tendency to pop up in life when we least expect (let alone need) them, at the end of the day the responsibility for publishing a decent weblog that provides useful information related to “protecting and growing self and wealth in these uncertain times” rests squarely on my shoulders.

And lately, I’ve “dropped the ball.”

Going forward, look for blog posts not only being published Sunday through Thursday again, but bright and early in the morning. While I’ll still discuss current events, new posts will be released from the “Project Prepper” series along with other financial and personal safety information that readers might be able to utilize. I’ll also be reintroducing the different series of posts special to this blog. As such, a “normal” week of blogging should look like this:

Sunday- “Quote For The Week,” “crash prophet” activity, other posts
Monday- “Project Prepper,” other posts
Tuesday- Media review (movies, TV shows, books), other posts
Wednesday- “Signs Of The Time,” other posts
Thursday- “Resource Of The Week,” other posts

As for those Chicagoland-centric posts? Well, those will continue, although they won’t make up the bulk of what’s published. On a side note, there’s just been so much bad news coming out of the “Windy City” and “Land of Lincoln” lately I’ve been compelled to write about it in hopes local readers understand what’s at stake. A lot, if you ask me. For this audience, I’ll be exploring the different avenues available to them for making the best of their unfortunate situation that’s been decades in the making.

One last thing. I’ve received a ton of messages via the blog contact page. For some reason, viewers of the various prepper/survival-themed shows on TV these days are messaging me thinking I’m either the person they saw on TV or have their contact info. The contact info requests I get, but the other? Anyway, I’ll be working hard whittling away at my inbox. Your patience is really appreciated.

That’s it for now. As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me should you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions related to Survival And Prosperity.

Back To Blogging

It’s back to work over here at Survival And Prosperity this dreary Wednesday morning in the Chicagoland area. I had planned on publishing new material Monday, but decided to extend my “vacation” out a little bit longer. I apologize if you were checking for new posts earlier this week.

During my time away from the blog, I was able to attend to a number of tasks that needed my immediate attention. But it wasn’t “all work and no play.” I got the chance to spend a couple of days at my family’s place in southeast Wisconsin near the end of the break. The weather was terrific, the locally-brewed beer plentiful, and the Northern Pike and Largemouth Bass were biting. My cousin and I managed to haul in some really nice-sized fish. Which is why I extended my stay longer than originally planned.

Two things come to mind now when thinking about that long weekend in Wisconsin:

First, I noticed the gun section at the local hardware store had a lot more ammunition on the shelves from the last time I was there. Another sign the ammo shortage is easing up?

Second, it was nice to “Escape to Wisconsin” and breathe in some “freedom.” In my opinion, Wisconsin is heading in the right direction. Illinois… not so much. As each day goes by, the “Land of Lincoln” continues to be transformed into a Big Government Nanny State, highlighted by more/higher taxes, more/higher fees, and increasing controls forced upon the populace. Sadly enough, many of my neighbors seem to be okay with this. Especially here in the Chicago area.

Coupled with the huge financial woes facing the City of Chicago, Cook County, and State of Illinois- an ugly ending looks to be in store for us. At the very least, Illinoisans will be busting their wallets out en masse to deal with the debt debacle.

And while our nice new house in the Chicago suburbs that I worked on quite a bit the last two weeks is fine and all, I continue to warn my girlfriend that our future permanent residence looks to be outside of the state.

It’s a real shame it might have to come to that.

Back to our regularly-scheduled blogging. And wondering if incompetency trumps political theater in causing a national debt default in the coming hours.

Now Posting Sunday Through Thursday

After analyzing Google data compiled on Survival And Prosperity, I’ve decided to change my weekly blogging schedule to Sunday through Thursday. This will allow me to address “document dumps” and other shenanigans that take place after I’m usually done blogging Friday and before I’m sidetracked by the typical hectic Monday.

By moving to this new schedule, I’d also like to think I won’t be ruining as many people’s weekends (at least the start of them) as I might have previously.

Remember folks, just because I blog about a coming financial crash, doesn’t mean I believe it’s the end of the world, or America for that matter.

And with that, I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

PS- I didn’t forget about the “Resource Of The Week.” Look for two of them next Thursday, the day I plan on publishing this series of posts each week going forward.

Saturday Blogging

Sorry for not posting any new material Friday. I was setting up a PC over at my parents’ place yesterday morning, and after rewiring, reorganizing, updating, configuring, and cleaning up after the whole mess, the day was pretty much gone.

Still, I will be publishing two posts later today- a review of episode 3 of Doomsday Castle, “Water From a Stone,” and the “Resource Of The Week.”

Have a great weekend,
