Martin Armstrong: ‘The United States Will Most Likely Break Apart By 2036’

Back on January 27, 2016, I asked:

Do any readers follow Martin Armstrong, economist at Armstrong Economics (and former chairman of Princeton Economics International Ltd.) and the creator of the Economic Confidence Model? While the jury’s still out on him (for me), I do read his blog almost daily…

I still “read his blog almost daily.” And something Armstrong wrote last week really caught my attention. From “The Termination of Cash Approaching Rapidly”:

I am becoming deeply concerned that the United States is headed into its version of a communist revolution under the label “progressive” and the bankers, who Larry Summers has always supported, will be used as the scapegoat for Wall Street and the “rich” who have to be stripped of their liberty and their money for the “good of the people” as they always say. The United States does not look like it will be a country we can recognize by 2032 if we can even make it past 2024. The United States will most likely break apart by 2036. There are separatist movements rising in many areas from Vermont and Texas to California, who reasons they voted for Hillary not Trump justifying their departure.

The entire purpose of eliminating cash is to strip us of our assets, liberty, and to prevent bank runs. The youth, who have been brainwashed by Bernie Sanders and people like Elizabeth Warren, will turn against the older generation and enslave them if at all possible. This threatens our future with outright civil war. They will not be satisfied until they destroy the freedom of their opposition. It is starting to appear that 2036 is our date with destiny

(Editor’s note: Bold added for emphasis)

America kaput by 2036- if not earlier?

That’s a pretty disturbing thought. And reading that blog post reminded me of an article I pulled up almost eight years ago on The Wall Street Journal website (my how time flies) by Andrew Osborn, who discussed a similar prediction made by Russian academic Igor Panarin, a former KGB analyst and Dean of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s school for future diplomats (then and now). On December 29, 2008, Osborn wrote:

Mr. Panarin posits, in brief, that mass immigration, economic decline, and moral degradation will trigger a civil war next fall and the collapse of the dollar. Around the end of June 2010, or early July, he says, the U.S. will break into six pieces — with Alaska reverting to Russian control…

California will form the nucleus of what he calls “The Californian Republic,” and will be part of China or under Chinese influence. Texas will be the heart of “The Texas Republic,” a cluster of states that will go to Mexico or fall under Mexican influence. Washington, D.C., and New York will be part of an “Atlantic America” that may join the European Union. Canada will grab a group of Northern states Prof. Panarin calls “The Central North American Republic.” Hawaii, he suggests, will be a protectorate of Japan or China, and Alaska will be subsumed into Russia…

(Editor’s note: Bold added for emphasis)

Obviously 2010 came and went… and the good ol’ U.S. of A. remains intact.

But I can’t help but wonder if Panarin’s prediction might not be in the same category as an infamous forecast made by the American financial analyst Meredith Whitney about a wave of municipal defaults. I wrote back on December 22, 2010:

Last night Whitney, now CEO and founder of Meredith Whitney Advisory Group, appeared on CNBC and warned that a wave of defaults by state and local governments in the coming months will cause a sell-off in the municipal bond market, hurting U.S. economic growth and stocks- and causing social unrest

I blogged a year-and-a-half later:

Whitney will eventually be vindicated about the wave of defaults (her timing was just off)…

Beware Of Uncle Sam?

Since the time we were subjects of the English monarchy, plenty of Americans haven’t been big fans of government.

Particularly fans of Big Government.

From the folks over at the Gallup website Monday:

Almost half of Americans, 49%, say the federal government poses “an immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens,” similar to what was found in previous surveys conducted over the last five years. When this question was first asked in 2003, less than a third of Americans held this attitude

Overall, Americans who agree that the government is an immediate threat tend to respond with very general complaints echoing the theme that the federal government is too big and too powerful, and that it has too many laws. They also cite nonspecific allegations that the government violates freedoms and civil liberties, and that there is too much government in people’s private lives.

The most frequently mentioned specific threats involve gun control laws and violations of the Second Amendment to the Constitution…

(Editor’s note: Bold added for emphasis)

On September 9, the U.K.-headquartered internet-based market research firm YouGov reported on their website that based on recent research:

29% of Americans could imagine a situation in which they would support the military seizing control of the federal government…

(Editor’s note: Bold added for emphasis)

That percentage grew under the following scenario:

The proportion of the country that would support a military takeover increases when people are asked whether they would hypothetically support the military stepping in to take control from a civilian government which is beginning to violate the constitution. 43% of Americans would support the military stepping in while 29% would be opposed…

(Editor’s note: Bold added for emphasis)

Long-time readers of Survival And Prosperity might remember me blogging about a Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind survey asking about a Second American Revolution that was conducted in April 2013. I wrote on May 3, 2013:

Armed revolution in the United States.

I heard it being talked about yesterday in the mainstream media after the release of some new poll findings, so I decided to go to the source this morning. From a Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind news release Wednesday, concerning their most recent national survey of 863 registered U.S. voters from April 22 through April 28, 2013:

The poll finds that 29 percent of Americans think that an armed revolution in order to protect liberties might be necessary in the next few years, with another five percent unsure. However, these beliefs are conditional on party. Just 18 percent of Democrats think an armed revolution may be necessary, as opposed to 44 percent of Republicans and 27 percent of independents…

(Editor’s note: Bold added for emphasis)

Funny how that “29 percent” number pops up again.

Interesting times we’re living in, huh?

Two things come to mind here:

• Uncle Sam knows darn well about these polls/surveys
• Such views could be the real reason behind all those military training exercises in America’s big cities lately

Or maybe not.

One last point. As an American citizen and former civil servant at the federal level of government, I’ve always taken pride in our (relatively) peaceful transfer of political power since the founding of the Republic.

Here’s hoping that continues to be the case.

You can read that Gallup piece in its entirety on their website here. The same goes for that YouGov article here. Insightful and disturbing stuff.

Video: SHTF In Venezuela

Henry Reich, creator of the MinutePhysics series of videos on YouTube.com, shows the chaos going on in Venezuela these days in his latest work. Apparently, an illustrator for MinuteEarth- Ever Salazar- has a ringside seat to the dire situation the South American country is in (I blogged about the food shortages back on April 3).

Watching the video, I couldn’t help but wonder if the United States might not suffer something similar once our financial “day of reckoning” arrives. And then I heard Salazar say this:

At least half the population ratifies the disaster by voting in favor of the 15-year-long revolution…

Sound familiar?

Poll: 29 Percent Of Americans Think Armed Revolution Might Be Necessary In Next Few Years

“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”

-Thomas Jefferson (Founding Father, author of the Declaration of Independence, and 3rd U.S. President) to William Stephens Smith, Paris, November 13, 1787

“29 percent of Americans think that an armed revolution in order to protect liberties might be necessary in the next few years.”

Wild.

Well, I’ve come across increasing chatter of a Second American Revolution for a number of years now on various blogs/websites, so I can’t say I’m too surprised to read of these findings.

Milwaukee County Sheriff: If Feds Try To Disarm Country ‘You Would See An Uprising And Maybe A Version Of The Second American Revolution’

Speaking of Wisconsin, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke Jr.- who recently made headlines when he told Milwaukee County residents in a PSA to use a firearm to defend themselves until police arrived- appeared on FOX News’ Justice with Judge Jeanine this past weekend and talked about gun rights. From their exchange:

JUDGE JEANINE: I’m back with… Wisconsin Sheriff David Clarke, who this week warned that enforcing any gun laws to deprive Americans of the right to bear arms could lead to a Second American Revolution. Sheriff, you’ve been very vocal, and, by the way, I absolutely agree with you- if you wait for 911, then shame on you. You’ve got to arm yourself and defend yourself once you educate yourself. Well, what’s this whole idea of a Second Revolution? Where is that coming from?
SHERIFF CLARKE: Well, the question was, “Would I participate in assisting the Feds coming into states and going into homes and taking everybody’s gun away?” And I said, I would not be a part of something like that. And I said one of the reasons is that I didn’t want to get shot. Because the American people are only going to put up with so much before they push back. And I said, if the Feds tried to do that- disarm this country- I said you would see an uprising and maybe a version of the Second American Revolution because of that. Just read the Declaration of Independence. It’s right in there. It was talking about the Feds coming in and going into homes, forcing their way into homes and removing firearms. I mean, the thought is preposterous.

Texas Judge: Obama To Try And Hand Over U.S. Sovereignty To U.N.

One area of literature that seems to be gaining in popularity these days is survival fiction. And what Lubbock County, Texas, Judge Tom Head recently said about President Obama handing over U.S. sovereignty to the United Nations sounds like something out of those novels. From the FOX 34 News (Lubbock) website on August 21:

Judge Head said he and the county must be prepared for many contingencies, one that he particularly fears, is if President Obama is reelected.

He’s going to try to hand over the sovereignty of the United States to the UN, and what is going to happen when that happens?,” Head asked.

“I’m thinking the worst. Civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe. And we’re not just talking a few riots here and demonstrations, we’re talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms and get rid of the guy.

“Now what’s going to happen if we do that, if the public decides to do that? He’s going to send in U.N. troops. I don’t want ’em in Lubbock County. OK. So I’m going to stand in front of their armored personnel carrier and say ‘you’re not coming in here’.

(Editor’s note: Italics added for emphasis)

The U.N.’s response to Judge Head? Louis Charbonneau and Michelle Nichols wrote on the Reuters website on August 24:

The United Nations scoffed on Friday at claims by a judge in Lubbock County, Texas, that U.N. troops could invade the southern U.S. state to settle a possible civil war, which the judge warned could be sparked if Obama is re-elected in November.

“It’s absolutely ridiculous,” said U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s spokesman, Martin Nesirky, when asked if the United Nations had any plans to invade Texas.

He later added: “No one, not even the United Nations, would ever mess with Texas.”

(Editor’s note: Italics added for emphasis)

Texans must be loving that answer.

But, Judge Head’s assertion may not be as “ridiculous” as it sounds. A number of elected leaders, including U.S. Senators James Inhofe (OK) and Jim DeMint (SC), claim that efforts to sell out U.S. sovereignty to international authority not only exist, but more are on the way. Inhofe and DeMint wrote in a joint op-ed piece on the Washington Times website on July 25:

The American people’s God-given and constitutionally protected right to self-government must be protected. The fact that our people remain skeptical toward the schemes of international diplomats is a sign of their enduring wisdom.

LOST is dead, for now. But new efforts to hand over American sovereignty to international authority already are under way. Only with the ongoing help and vigilance of the American people can we hope to defeat the next generation of unnecessary, unrepublican and undemocratic treaties.

Poll: 45% Of Americans Predict Second American Revolution This Century

Last night while reading the latest issue of the The Sovereign Society’s weekly e-letter Sovereign Digest I came across something pretty disturbing. The newsletter pointed out a recent 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll asking:

Will there be another American revolution this century?

Survey says…

45% Yes

47% No

From the CBS News website:

What would a future American Revolution look like? It is hard to envision but 45 percent of Americans think it will happen in the next century while 47 percent disagree. Thomas Jefferson said, “the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” It is doubtful that he could have imagined the logistical difficulty of organizing an uprising in a country of 300 million people.

I found what The Sovereign Society’s Erika Nolan and Jeff Opdyke had to say about the poll results particularly insightful:

What shocked us wasn’t the number, but the source. You’d rightly expect such results from, say, a rightwing fringe group. You would not expect it from affluent, mainstream America. And yet, those results come out of a recent poll conducted by 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair – America’s most-popular TV news show and a decidedly mainstream politics/culture/glamour mag.
