Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke: Mainstream Media Now Democrats’ ‘Propaganda Wing’ As Trump Defends Nation

Let’s turn our attention north of the “Cheddar Curtain” now. Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, Jr., appeared on FOX News Saturday morning and really let the mainstream media and opponents of strengthening the borders/homeland security have it. On the sparring between President Trump and the mainstream media, Sheriff Clarke informed FOX & Friends Weekend viewers:

Well, first of all, the mainstream media, The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC- they have become the propaganda wing of the Democrat Party and of leftist ideology. They abandoned their responsibility under the Constitution, their First Amendment protection. And we want them to have First Amendment protection but we don’t want it to be used against people whose political views they don’t agree with or that they oppose. They’re supposed to be a watchdog but instead what they have become, like I said, is an echo chamber for leftist ideology. So I think it’s good because the media has changed. And organizations like The New York Times, The Washington Post, and others do not realize that this is a new media age and every person in the United States now is their own reporter. And that is competition to them as well and they don’t like it.

On President’s Trump’s initiatives to protect the nation’s borders and strengthen homeland security, Clarke said:

First of all, I’m tired of these one-percenters like Mark Zuckerberg and others lecturing us about who we are. I know who I am, and most Americans know who we are. We are a sovereign nation. If you’re going to be a sovereign nation, you have to have borders and you have to protect those borders. Mark Zuckerberg has no idea of who’s coming into this country and what it takes to vet those individuals. I as a law enforcement officer- I’m in my 39th year- we do a lot of vetting of people. I know how it’s done. But you have to have databases with which to compare. So you take a name, someone coming in as a refugee. And we’re not talking about the kids. I’m tired of all this crocodile tears about the kids, the poor kids coming. We’re not talking that. We’re talking about abled-bodied, grown men, fighting-age, that should be back in Syria and back in the Middle East fighting for their country coming over to the United States to spread jihad. So that’s who we’re talking about. But if you don’t have a database, someone gives you a name, and you don’t have a database in Syria, because they don’t have the record systems and the databases like we have with people- you have nothing to compare it to. So they give you a name and you look and there’s nothing there. That doesn’t mean that they’re safe to come in. So Donald Trump is right on this. And I hope that the rest of the people in Washington, D.C., realize that this thing is a mess and we have to get our arms around it. And at least President Donald Trump recognizes that…

What’s interesting is former President Barack Obama said that they were already doing it. So if he said- and they weren’t- but if he said they were already doing it, and now President Donald Trump comes along and says we’re doing it and now these same people who said, “Well, hey, Barack Obama’s taking care of it”- these same people are now being critical of it. The hypocrisy of this is profound. But, President Donald Trump understands that his first obligation is to defend and protect American citizens, and defend and protect America from foreign threats. That is his first and most important obligation. So he is rising up to that. And people should be proud of that. It makes me feel more secure that finally, somebody understands that the defense of this nation is government’s number one priority.

Quote For The Week

“It’s been a bad week for MSNBC, and a bad week for serious journalism. First, the network learned to regret giving Alec Baldwin a job after he called a photographer a word that is more than a little homophobic. MSNBC have since suspended his show for two weeks. Now, Martin Bashir has scraped the bottom of the proverbial barrel after launching a tirade against Sarah Palin (“America’s resident dunce”) that has to be seen to be believed. And you’re warned: it is stomach churning.

The beloved liberal journalist used his afternoon TV show to deliver a somewhat justified critique of a comparison Palin made between national debt and slavery. His analysis starts crudely and rudely enough, but it ends with a truly shocking suggestion that someone defecate in the former governor’s mouth to teach her a lesson. I’m not making this up. Quote:

Given her well-established reputation as a world class idiot, it’s hardly surprising that [Palin] should choose to mention slavery in a way that is abominable to anyone who knows anything about its barbaric history.

So here’s an example. One of the most comprehensive first-person accounts of slavery comes from the personal diary of a man called Thomas Thistlewood, who kept copious notes for 39 years. Thistlewood was the son of a tenant farmer, who arrived on the island of Jamaica in April 1750, and assumed the position of overseer at a major plantation. What is most shocking about Thistlewood’s diary is not simply the fact that he assumes the right to own and possess other human beings, but is the sheer cruelty and brutality of his regime. In 1756, he records that a slave named Darby ‘catched eating kanes; had him well flogged and pickled, then made Hector, another slave, s-h-i-t in his mouth.’ This became known as ‘Darby’s Dose,’ a punishment invented by Thistlewood that spoke only of inhumanity. And he mentions a similar incident in 1756, his time in relation to a man he refers to as Punch. ‘Flogged Punch well, and then washed and rubbed salt pickle, lime juice and bird pepper. Made Negro Joe piss in his eyes and mouth’. I could go on, but you get the point. When Mrs. Palin invokes slavery, she doesn’t just prove her rank ignorance. She confirms if anyone truly qualified for a dose of discipline from Thomas Thistlewood, she would be the outstanding candidate.

‘If anyone truly qualified for a dose of discipline from Thomas Thistlewood, she would be the outstanding candidate.’ Wow.

There’s a popular myth that all the hate in US politics comes from the Right. Here’s proof that there’s plenty on the Left, too.”

-Dr. Tim Stanley, British historian and author, writing on The Telegraph (UK) website Saturday.

By the way, from Dr. Stanley’s personal website:

I love America deeply and I suspect she is the last hope for mankind (I really don’t want to have to learn Chinese).

Too funny.

Romney 1, Obama 0

Just got done watching the first in a series of U.S. Presidential debates between former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and the sitting President Barack Obama.

This one was no contest. Romney spanked Obama.

The Republican candidate was articulate, appeared knowledgeable (the mainstream news outlets are unleashing their “truth squads” as I type this), and attacked his opponent with growing intensity as the evening went on.

Not only was Romney in the driver’s seat, but he seemed to be enjoying the ride as well.

President Obama, on the other hand, didn’t look like he wanted to be there, was not articulate, and didn’t put up much of a defense against Romney’s attacks.

In fact, summing up Obama’s talking points for the evening might look something like this:

• My Republican predecessor caused a lot of the nation’s problems
• I’m all about the middle class
• We need to be fair, but we need more revenue
• The rich have been successful, so let’s tax them to redistribute some of that money they’ve earned
• Obamacare is the way to go
• Improving education will make us prosperous

Finally, Obama kept trying to hammer his Republican opponent for not going into the details of a number of plans he’s proposing.

However, politicians, for the most part, know better than to fall for this should they be held accountable for something that’s said should they get elected.

Being vague here tends to be the general rule of thumb.

As soon as the night was wrapped up, I turned to MSNBC on the satellite TV to see their reaction.

Even Chris Matthews was declaring Romney the winner in this showdown.

Changing over to one of the local Chicago television stations, I happened to catch a “political analyst” declaring President Obama had won the debate.

Not really too surprised to hear that, considering it’s the U.S. President’s adopted hometown we’re talking about here, and a city, county, and state chock-full of dyed-in-the-wool Democrats.

Judging by the look in Barack Obama’s face at the end of the night, I’m guessing he’s going to come out swinging the next time around. And I hope he does. Because it will make the next debate all the more interesting to watch.

And if I get the chance to watch that one I’ll call it as I see it too.

In the meantime, enjoy the forthcoming White House spin as it regards the President’s performance tonight.

U.S. Home Prices, Housing Market Finally Recovering?

When conducting research, I like to keep an open mind about the news sources I use. For example, I read both the FOX News and MSNBC websites daily during the business week- among others. Not taking this diverse approach might prevent me from getting the whole story. Take the following from MSNBC.com this morning:

“Home prices up for first time in 10 months”

Single-family home prices rose for the first time in 10 months, in an encouraging sign the battered sector is starting to stabilize, a closely watched survey said on Tuesday.

The S&P/Case Shiller composite index of 20 metropolitan areas gained 0.2 percent in February on a seasonally adjusted basis, matching economists’ forecasts.

It was the first time prices have gained since April 2011…

(Editor’s note: Italics added for emphasis)

Now, look at what appeared on the finance/investing website MarketWatch.com this morning:

“U.S. home prices fall to nearly decade low”

February prices down 0.8% on the month

U.S. home prices dropped sharply in February to hit the worst level in nearly a decade, according to a closely followed index released Tuesday.

The S&P/Case-Shiller 20-city composite fell 0.8% compared to January levels to take the year-on-year drop to 3.5%. The index is at its lowest level since October 2002. Of the 20 cities measured, 16 had negative readings and only three showed gains.

The decline may be due to the typical pattern of diminished interest during the winter and heightened interest in housing during the spring and summer, as prices rose 0.2% on a seasonally adjusted basis, the first rise since April 2011. S&P says the unadjusted series is a more reliable indicator

(Editor’s note: Italics added for emphasis)

“S&P says the unadjusted series is a more reliable indicator”

So while the index creators point out that “the unadjusted series is a more reliable indicator,” MSNBC utilized the latest data from the adjusted (less reliable) series for a positive piece about the U.S. housing market, writing stuff like:

“Home prices up for first time in 10 months”

And:

“an encouraging sign the battered sector is starting to stabilize”

To be fair, MSNBC included the following later on in the article:

But on a non-seasonally adjusted basis, the 20-city index was down 0.8 percent at 134.20, the lowest since October 2002.

(Editor’s note: Italics added for emphasis)

Still, the gist of the piece seems to be that U.S. home prices and the housing market are recovering- something that a number of long-time, reputable housing observers can’t say is true.

So, is MSNBC now a housing shill? Are they trying to put a positive spin on housing as part of a larger effort to get President Obama re-elected, as some would have you believe? I don’t know. But I am certain of this. Theirs isn’t the whole story as it concerns the direction of U.S. home prices and the overall housing market.
